Fireworks

We mored in the bay and saw this simply wonderfull firework display. being out in the ocean gave everything a unique dimension!

Lighthouse

This lighthouse is on one of the most prominent coastal points in Mallorca - set vivid against the blue sky I thought made a great picture!

Fly Deck

No words needed!

Full sails

Caught up with this yachtabout three miles off shore on a day of real high winds and four foot swells. To get this picture was almost imposible - Midas Touch was really rolling and I had to take a dozen shots to get just one decent one.

Midas Touch

How do you describe ultimate luxury? I guess everyone has their own idea of paradise but what ever your perception - Midas Touch delivers - and some!! The down side? she is rather thirsty and only those with very, very deep pockets are advised to express an interest! (by the way that's the skipper on board, the other two crew were busy preparing lunch!!!)

Palma Cathederal

No words can describe this building especially with the back drop (only seen from the entrance to the harbour)

Mirror image

Taken in a bay in Mallorca the water was like a mirror. I went walking with my camera at sunrise and on my way back to the boat we were staying on (Midas Touch) the sun rose well above the horizion and created this simply stunning scene.

All tied up

These boats were in a harbour in Mallorca and just jumped up as a "picture" although the sky looked clear and blue it was in fact quite a cool day (by comparitive standards anyway) and the cool light gave a vivid image.

High & Dry

Found this boat on the beach in Alderburgh as the sun was rising, the sky was so clear and there was not another person around so I'm not sure if the boat had just finished a nights work or was ready to go out during the day - but it made a very interesting scene.

gone for a dip

I dont think this needs any explanation - what do they say about a picture being worth a 1000 words?

September sunset

Took this within seconds of the sun going down. the light was fading and the sun was disapearing in what was a sky with the lightes cloud, all of a sudden there was simply the most amazing colours a momment later the sun had dropped below the horizion and the colours had gone and the sky changed to flat dark emotionless blue.

A Jar full

Had a little trouble with the family today - so I simply shrunk them, bottled them and wouldn't let the out until they promise to do as they are told!!!

Working for peanuts

Saw this guy selling peanuts in a market - his face was weather beaten from years in the sun and as you can see his eye almost closed against the bright sunshine!

Worth getting up early for.................

Well, to get this picture I had to sit on the patio a 5.30am - in near darkness with camera ready. I made the mistake of going out in just my boxers because I thought it was quite warm - big mistake! And to make things worse the cloud cover came in quickly so I knew I'd only have a couple of minutes to get it right. Anyway, the sun when it rose beyond the horizon made a simply fantastic apperance with all the colours of the spectrum in the sky!

Fire in the sky

I took this while I was out walking and the sun was setting. althought the temprature was dropping steadily the sky looked as though it was about to catch fire. The small cloud on the far left was much lower and was stark against the darker sky.

Drying off

These two young lady's were obviously drying off on the beach - despite it being well into the 30's the sea was cold and a cooling breeze exagerated things and made it seem quite cool - I though the colours of the two towels in the bright sun light with the beach and sea made quite a good picture!

I'll help myself then.....

Saw this young man waiting at a shop counter while there was no one serving - after a couple of minutes he realised he been given a golden opportunity to fill his boots (albeit little ones) unfortunatley for him his size made getting up to the counter rather difficult - I didn't stick around to see if he made it!

Frogs party

Saw these very happy looking guys outside a shop in Portugal - the mass of colour makes for a great picture - well I think so!

Keep up

Saw this old chap in a street in Portugal. He wasn't really with the lady in front but from where I took the picture it looked as though he was trying to keep up with her. I just feel it makes you ask"where are they going" and creates an interesting picture.

So English

Saw this sign on a village green and it jsut seemed quintesential English - the name of the village says it all!

Write or Call

Saw this very old phonebox right next to an aged mailbox right out in the middle of knowhere - I just wondered if they ever get used and if so when and by who. The base of the phonebox was starting to subside and you can see how far it was leaning over!

Pigs diner

Well, I finally caught up with Trotter again! unfortunatley, he really didn't have time to come over and say hello as he had "his snout in the trough"

He's put on a little weight but I guess that's not supprising given the amount of diner he packed away while I was watching him!!!

Summer evening

Just couldn't resist this - the evening was coming to a close and the sun was disappearing behind the tree so I had to get the shot exactly right the very first time and it was a great deal more than just the fact the light was fading. coming down the road to collect the straw bales was a huge tractor with trailer followed by an agricultural fork lift - ready to ruin the shot - talk about timing!!!

Treesome

This tree was the last of three along a country lane and I found it completely by accident. From the road it looks in full bloom and full of foilage, when I stepped into the feild beyond the gate it was a completley different picture from the field you could see just how badly the tree had been ravaged - it made a very stark contrast and I think a dramatic picture!

All The Trucks In a Row

Walking back to my office from the station I saw all these trucks "qued" up on the pavement it was almost impossible to get passed them but when I looked back the perspective was so striking especially as there was a fence streching out into the distance to give greater contrast.

Cataloge of clutter

Saw this shot straight away in a warehouse I went to. Not only are there 1,000's of items they range in size, colour order and use. I think it makes a geat picture as if you just look at it for a momment it really draws you in to the details.

Slow lane

Saw this speeding cab rushing passed slower traffic on the inside lane. I wanted to capture the sense of speeding vehicles but also the fact life is slower on the inside lane!

Coffee machines

Saw ths coffee cup on someones desk amidst the jumble of phones, key boards and note pads - just struck me as quite a contrast against all the high tech and business equipment and obviously kept the owner suitably toppped up with cafine to manage what was clearly a highly charged day.

Double expresso

Saw this couple having a coffee and the picture behind told another but associated story. Caught them right in the middle of a conversation so they never realised I was taking pictures.

Hooked perspective

Saw these row of coat hooks completley by accident caught sight of the perspective - I was hooked!!! Although it makes for a picture that "draws you in" it is also a credit to the people that installed the hooks as they were in absolute perfect line - otherwise it might not have been so dramatic

Framework

I saw this when taking some pictures of a school building - the shapes and symitry struck me and I thought the range of different shapes contrasted by the regular brickwork behind made for an interesting picture!!

Street light

This old road lamp hanging from a chimney pot really grabbed my attention - the contrast of the timber and steel behind gave a really interesting theme and just made me wonder about the history of both.

London...........

Just loved doing this picture - masses of colour and different tones - but I found after I took it that it gripped my attention not only with the contrast of colours but also the content too.

Heavy Weight

Saw this rather large bee hanging on to the flower with everything he had. I hope the definition between the size of the flower bud and the bees body gives some perspective on just how big he was - certainly didn't want to disturb him gathering nectre!!

Three's a crowd?

Took this in a field close to home, the wind made taking this picture very difficult as it had to be taken so close even the slightest movement made the picture completely blurred - so it was painstaking to get this right to say the least. Anyway, double click on the image to get the full effect!

Behind bars

This little chap was very curious when I went over to say hello - sadly his bigger brothers and sisters have just been taken off to market - I'll post more pictures of him as he grows. I've nicknamed him Trotter Junior!

Hungry Bee

Took this picture this morning - if you double click the image to full size - you can see the bee's tounge collecting the nectre. This took many attempts as even a breath of wind made the picture completely blurred and more than once the bee thought it might be a good idea to sting me!! so dancing round avoiding a mad bee - camera in had must have been quite a sight!!

No MOT

I found this old car while walking today the dog earlier today. I've picked out the brambles growing through the windscreen to emphasie its condition. double click on the imagiage for the full view! its quite dramatic!

K9

Took this while our dog was focused on someone eating - otherwise he rarely sits still! Used a 17-70mm lens F5 to give a narrow depth of field but good detail in the dog's face
